Module 2 of the works council is a special training module that deals specifically with the role of the works council in operational changes. Our topics include co-determination rights when negotiating a reconciliation of interests and social plan agreement with the company management, the tasks and establishment of the finance committee and legal case studies.
The role of the works council during reorganisations and changes in the company: Works councils are representative bodies for employees and offer them the opportunity to participate in decision-making processes within the company. During changes such as reorganisations, mergers or redundancies, the works council plays a crucial role in representing the interests of employees. This involvement can include negotiating with management to ensure fair treatment of employees, discussing the impact of changes and defending the rights of the workforce.
Tasks and establishment of the finance committee: The finance committee within a works council typically focuses on financial matters that affect the workforce. Tasks may include reviewing the company's financial situation, budgeting and providing input on economic aspects of proposed changes. The committee plays a role in ensuring transparency and fairness in financial decisions that affect employees.
Legal case studies: Analysing legal case studies can provide practical insights into the application of the law in real-life scenarios. Case studies can cover instances where works councils have been involved in legal proceedings relating to company change, co-determination or other relevant issues. Studying these cases can help participants to understand legal principles and their interpretation in the context of industrial relations.
